Opalyn Mok
Date: 16 August 2006
PENANG: To Tan Sri Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee, 69, one is never too old for the paper chase.
The pensioner proudly received his seventh science degree, a Master of Science in Environmental Biology, at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) convocation today (Aug 16, 2006).
He already has six other degrees and a diploma in inter-related science disciplines from five different universities.
"[Among the degrees] I have a PhD in virology from Queensland University and received two honorary doctorates from University Putra Malaysia and Queensland University," he said.
Ahmad Mustaffa, who was the veterinary department director-general for more than 30 years, said he believes in life-long learning.
"Learning is something automatic that we all do from the womb to the tomb, so I will not stop learning and perhaps will pursue some other course in future," he said.
He is one of the 1,126 graduates in the first day of USM's 35th convocation from today to Sunday (Aug 20, 2006), in which a total of 7,370 graduates would receive their degrees. |
