The Veterinary Association Malaysia (VAM) was officially formed in 1989 through the amalgamation of the Malaysian Veterinary Association (founded in 1939) and the Association of Veterinary Surgeons Malaysia (founded in 1963).

The official business of VAM is executed by a thirteen-member Executive Committee elected by the members at the end of the Annual General Meeting, held in conjunction with the Veterinary Congress.

There are several other organizations affiliated with VAM such as the Small Animal Practitioners Association Malaysia (SAPAM), the Malaysian Equine Veterinary Association (MEVA) and the Sarawak Veterinary Association (SVA). In addition, several other special interest groups were formed that operate as a subcommittee of VAM such as the Selangor Veterinary Teachers Association (SEVTA) and the Malaysian Association of Food Animals Veterinarian (MAFAV).

Mission

1. To improve and expand knowledge and application of veterinary and other allied sciences.

2. To support, protect and maintain characteristics, status, interests, values and integrity of veterinary profession.

3. To disseminate information and introduce materials related to veterinary profession to the public and government.

The VAM homepage had been totally revamped with more interesting design and improved functionality.

There is also an online application form to apply for VAM membership.

The new VAM website is quite cool because now information about VAM activities and news can be easily accessible by anyone, anytime.
