Herder builds million-ringgit business within 10 years

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten years ago, Mohd Nazri Md Hassan started his venture with 25 cows and a believe-in-yourself attitude.
Nazri, 38, now has 1,000 heads of cattle at his farm in Sekinchan, Selangor, and a RM6mil turnover.
He believes that the secret to his success is the hands-on approach he adopts in managing every aspect of his business, from rearing the cows to marketing the meat.
“I plan to expand the business by building a meat processing plant and finding overseas markets,” he said.
Nazri was among 39 Malay agro-entrepreneurs, academicians and sportsmen who received Umno's recognition for excellence.
“This recognition of outstanding Malays serves as a catalyst for others, not only Umno members, to increase their efforts and become an example to others,” said supreme council member Datuk Shafie Apdal who gave out the certificates.
Former Universiti Malaya vice-chairman Prof Datuk Dr Hashim Yaacob was recognised for his achievements in dentistry.
“I am proud to be given the recognition,” he said. |
