Hi Catlover,
I am not a vet, but I am sure that it will not able to transfer the flu to you as long as you have no physical contact with the birds or their dropping...(including their feathers etc)...
and one more point to make you feel better is that bird flu is from virus... the birds must have the H5N1 virus (birds flu virus) to become sick or 'host'. If the birds don't have it, it will definitely not able to transfer any to you... :D |

| It is easier to get hit lighting strike while you can surfing on Malaysian Vet forum than get bird flu from midrating bird. Firstly you will not encounter any migrating bird getting near enough to you. Secondly, it needs a high density or population of bird. Flu virus transmit best in low ventilation and high bird population area. |

| As suggested by the name of disease, it's mainly respiratory signs, like discharges from eyes and nostrils, swollen head, bluish discoloration of comb, etc. and sometimes may see diarrhoea also... (not a poultry expert, think Dr Tan can provide a more detailed answer...) |

| Repelling them is what you should think about, regardless whether these birds can transmit birdflu to you or not, as their presence is already a nuisance to you. |
