Dear All Veterinarians,
Here's the message from Dr Vincent Ng (Hon Secretary of VAM)
Any volunteers - please contact Dr Vincent

Liberalisation of Veterinary Services by 2010 ( Asean & WTO)
With ref to above, this is to inform you that there will be a presentation and discussion with DVS on the above matter at the following time.
Date : 9 Feb 2006
Time : 9.30am
Place: Dept of Vet Services, Wisma Tani,
Bilik Mesyuarat Utama, Blok Podium Lot 4G1, Level 2,
Presint 4, Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan
626300 Putrajaya
Tel: 03-88702208
We will be glad if a small working group be formed immediately perhaps after the CNY(Chinese New Yr) to discuss the above matter before the meeting in order to come up with a proposal for DVS. The proposal may includes issues like criteria for practice in Malaysia & vice versa
under MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreement), examination system to allow them to practice, what are the practices we would like to open up and what are the practices we would like to export etc.
Can we have a volunteer to spearhead this working group & to call for a meeting? Your idea and contribution towards this will be greatly appreciated. Please don't stop contributing because it will affect your future. Please pass this message to all vets concerned.
Regards,
Dr. Vincent Ng

I attended the meeting this morning at Putrajaya and met with many seniors and friends there. The meeting was chaired by Dato' Dr. Abd. Aziz bin Mangkat at Jabatan Perkhidmatan Haiwan, Putrajaya.
An exclusive coverage of the details of the meeting will be posted very soon (1-2 days time). So please do check back later.
Suffice to say that the impact of the liberalisation is very great - Many, if not all young Malaysian veterinarians might become jobless in a year or two!
Impact rating to the vet community as a whole: Very High! |
