dear readers

yesterday a female siamese cat showed up at our house. we gave her food and water and now she considered our front porch to be her domain.

we know that taking her in is out of the question as our household is full of pets and we don't have the resource to care for more.

we have seen this female siamese occasionally near my house but we were not sure whether she's a stray or someone's pet.

however she appears to be confident and used to human presence as she allowed us near her and her kitten. she also allowed us to pet her and recognises a cat cage as a shelter. this makes us feel that she is someone's pet.

i'm sure that she will return to her owner one day but if not ...then she and her kittens will be homeless...would anyone be interested in adopting a kitten or two?

one kitten takes after her mother in shape colour - i.e. like a siamese but the other mischievous fella looks like a grey, white and cream tiger with spots and stripes. i think he will have medium to longish hair when he grows up especially his tail.

i know this message is premature. but i'm take steps to pre-empt...for the kittens' sake.

pls PM me or write me via this forum if you're interested later on...

thx and rgds
ashely

hi

a little bit more update on the kittens.

1) here's a photo on one of the kittens - a male

2) both have been weaned by their mother

3) both are now on biscuits - i'm giving them a mixture of acana (kitten), orijen and natural balance (whatever i have on hand). however if possible give them kitten milk (this i don'thv on hand).

4) as at yesterday, they're both now litter-box trained.

5) they're both in good shape

6) both is getting used to being around humans and they're both very affectionate, especially the female kitten. the male wants to be affectionate but is still a bit wary.

7) i've put out a small little pen/cage for them to sleep in at night so that when they go to their new owner, they'll be used to the sight of a cage.

having said all the above, i do hope that there's a good loving person out there with lots of love to provide a forever home to these two kittens. it would be preferable if they're re-homed together. at least they would have each other's company while growing up and will not be bored as a solitary pet at home.

the effort to take are of 1 kitten is that same as taking care of 2 kittens.

through my trial and error experience, the two important matters to any pet owner is food and litter cleaning. two highly recommended method :

food : provide good quality food like innova evo, orijen, natural balance, etc, food that has a higher meat content (good protein content) as this will ensure your kitten starts with a good health therefore saving you money in vet cost and food cost (they tend to eat less on good quality food)

litter - use recycled wood pulp or paper material will ensure litter cleaning is hassle free and smell free - also good quality food ensure the resulting poop is almost odorless. also don't use clumping sand with kittens as they will not only ingest it (which will clog their intestines) but also stick to their fur and bum making it difficult to clean them up and also cause them pain when you try to get it off them. clumping sand contains cement. simple as that.

trust me - i've been through this, i know what i'm talking about.

i'll upload the photo of the female kitten when i have the chance.

however both are not spayed yet. potential owners who are committed to providing good quality of living and health to the kittens for the long term (as you're talking about being with the cat for the next 9 years or so) including ensuring they're spayed/neutered when the time is right, and also ensure they have their full vaccination and dewormed, right diet and safe living environment are welcomed to adopt them.

pls PM me or watch this particular topic and write me here.

hi bina

in terms of coloration, from what i've been told, he's not exactly a "pure" tabby with all stripes but he has spotslike rosettes on his tummy and on his body but stripes here and there.

he is also tricolour, the photo doesn't show it but he has three colours, grey to dark, white and cream.

not only is his ears big but he's also big on cuteness as well as cheekiness and he's very very playful.

i keep him and his siblings in a small cat pen now. it is big enough to accomodate his mother too.

yes, his mother is back and she nurses them too, at least this little tyke.

but he's very "ceria" and cheerful. i let him out every morning and evening for his run and put them back in before i go to work or sleep, with their water and food inside.

this is to pre-empt any accidents or incidents befalling them. there have been reports of "foreigners" picking up strays in my area for food and lately the population of stray cats, adults as well as kittens have really dwindled.

i hope people reading this post will take note that all three are for rehoming.

i'm taking the kittens and their mother to the vet this saturday for a checkup.

i own't spay the mother cat yet as she is still nursing the male kitten. i also will not spay the female kitten yet as i feel she is too small to go under the knife unless it's an absolute emergency.

Hi All

I took the female siamese and her ktitens to a vet yesterday for checkup.

Overall, the kittens are healthy. Good skin and fur, sound limbs. Very alert and active.

The vet estimated their age (from checking their teeth)
a) Male kitten slightly around 3 months old
b) Female kitten is around 4 months old.
c) Mother cat (siamese) is young, maybe 1 year of age and probably her first pregnancy.

We (including the vet) think that the mother cat might have fostered or adopted the male kitten as it is seldom and unlikely a female cat giver birth to her kittens in separate bathces of 1 month apart.

In any case, the mother cat is also in healthy condition, except for a bit of slight fur loss which the vet attributed to stress-related.

I had the vet dewormed them.

There's a potential adopter for the female kitten. so only left the mother cat and her male kitten.

We have tentatively named them as follows :
a) Samantha - mother cat - gentle, calm, loving and steadfast, also very intelligent

b) Chloe - female kitten - friendly, loving, gentle and steadfast (she's like her mother)

c) Benjamin - male kitten - playful and friendly, adorable, active (loves to play all day)

Potential adopter pls contact me at this forum or PM me.
