hey guys...there's this one family that abandoned their dog about a month ago. all my neighbors pitied the dog cuz the owner whacked her one night and we started feeding her. we also named her snowy. now my neighbors have stopped feeding her cuz she's too naughty (playful actually)...she steals shoes and underwear and leaves it on the road. she has also made friends with other never before seen stray dogs and they basically create havoc in our street, fighting every night and making too much of noise.
now only my family feed her and i think that the neighbors are gonna lose patience with us soon. plus we have two dogs of our own and they hate the sight of her. because she's a stray, she has ticks. and because of this my dogs are starting to have ticks and my dad isn't so happy about it.
we have talked abt it but my mom doesn't want to send her to spca cuz she's afraid that snowy might be put down. my mom thinks that she will make a good pet cuz she's very loving and playful. we tried asking people if they want her but they refused only because she's a local breed! my mom said that she doesn't mind paying some money every month for snowy as long as she's in good care. she also doesn't mind spaying and deworming her. can someone advice me what to do? is there some place that snowy can live instead of being put down? where can we send her? thanks for the replies!!! |

hi, from ur post, i assume the dog is frenly to u...
if tat's the case, in my opinion, wat u could do is try to rehome her yourself... take the dog to be de-ticked, bathed n de-sexed at a vet... if u hv no space n can afford it, board at the vet while u try to look for a home for her...
there r people who wun mind adopting a local mongrel, but we cannot expect them to take one in right from the street... that's why u hv to make sure the dog is in a better condition first, at least free from ticks...
there are many forums n websites where u can post up this dog for adoption... try www.PetFinder.my...
let me know if u need more info...
another way, since u mentioned ur mum doesn't mind paying mthly for the dog's upkeeping, is to send the dog to an animal sanctuary... check out Noah's Ark website, http://www.noahsarklodge.com/... they r in johor...
do keep us posted...
all the best... :) |

thanks ai_ney for the suggestion!
we're planning to do all you mentioned for the dog...except we cant send her for boarding. i think it'll be too expensive for us. actually my mom agreed to the animal sanctuary idea. but johor is a little too far.
is there an animal sanctuary here in selangor? my friend said that there is one somewhere but she doesn't remember where and the name of the place. does anyone have any idea? thanks... |

why not try putting the dog up for adoption first, give at least a month to look for a good home for the dog... take some nice photos of the dog n post up in forums n petfinder.my... if no1 comes forward to adopt the dog, then only consider sending the dog to an animal sacntuary?
there is 1 in selangor called the Furry Friends Farm, i'm not sure how they work though n whether they hv a retirement programme for dogs like Noah's Ark...
pls let me know if u need help or more info... i'd like to help if within my means...
