|
|
i've been trying to post a message on my lost cat here for the past two months but for some reason, my message was not accepted, it was rejected. he was just two week shy of his 1st birthday(his birthday falls on chinese new year).
it's now two months after my Ginger walked out one morning and never returned. during that period, we searched the immediate neighbourhood but never found any signs of accident involving a cat. i've posted posters of my Ginger with the security guards that patrol my area but to no avail.
there were a few sightings of a orange/cream stripped mackerel cat but that was not ginger.
however i have a feeling that ginger has been either "mistakenly" "cat-napped" by a well-meaning neighbour who thought ginger was a stray / lost.
if you have any friends / relatives/family member staying in tmn desa and recently adopted/found a male orange/cream stripped/spotted cat, please do let me know.
it is my fervent hope that ginger has found a shelter with a new owner, it is better than being a stray on the streets but i'm also realistic that cats are victims of road accidents on a daily basis and no one cared.
i can be contacted at either this forum or at my email ashleywong@myjaring.net |

I feel sorry to hear about the lost of your furry baby., and obviously I can feel the pain and the terrible feeling every minute to knowing he is not around..
I experienced the same but different is only I live in a condo. Usually every morning before I am off to work I taking my baby Robyn to walk along the corridor in the condo, at least 5-10 minutes. but in one tragic morning, just in a blink of my eyes, I found her dissapeared when I brought her to walk out of the house. Just in a minute I saw her and she is gone! Painfully I feel like collapsed and blew away just like that. I running up and down of the stairs (not using allevator) and calling her up and she was meowing when her name is called, just couldn't really get her exact location.
It gets me reallly nervous when she was being quiet that I thought she was really gone out from the bulding. This scared me most to start thinking she wouldn't know how to survive out there, fighting with other cats and dogs and human, starving etc..
I never given up. From Ground floor I climbed up again to the top floor (25), and going down again to a different stairs. I really didn't care about myself that time until I realized I need to take a break and get myself back.
So I got back to my house and had a drink sat and relax. After about ten minutes I go out again just to get my Robyn back!
And I think God really pay my pray, just in a minute I started calling up Robyn, I heard she meowing and this time I thought I knew where the sadness voice came from. Without any doubt I ran to a nearer staircase and started calling her up again and this time she replied back. In a quick I climbed up the stairs to the top and just that I saw my lovely Robyn sits there in a real scared.
Just this incident I took an emergency half day leave from my boss and I took about 3-4 hours to rescue my Robyn.
I am sorry if my story is too long to read, I just hope this story would at least gives an energy and get back your strength for you to keep on searching for Ginger and rescue him no matter how long would it takes.
Try to recall his routine if he has gone out before, if he likes to go to your neigbours or some places that might attrated him.
Just don't give up looking for him.
Good luck and all the best to you to reunite with Ginger. |

dear ms pea and everyone who took the time to read my post
thanks for your concern. it did help to give me hope altough i asked myself to be realistic
i may have cautious good news. we saw a cat fitting ginger's description a few days ago and last night we saw him again in our backyard. he ran towards my sis when my sis called out to him but our other cats hissed and yeowed so much that he ran away. this morning, i heard a cat mewling outside and i went out to the backyard to check and it was him, just that he was startled and ran away from me.
i'm hope that he may return so i left food and water out for him. tonight we'll watch out for him again. |

Hi bina and everyone
no he didnt' come back. three days ago, we took a drive round our neighbourhood and saw a cat answering ginger's description at the street behind us. it was around 10pm. he looked like ginger and almost allowed my sis to approach him when another car (a big 4wd that has no business speeding at such obscene speed in a residential area) came bearing down on them at high speed. my sis had to jump out of the way and the cat dissapeared.
since then i went back to the same spot a few times hoping to sight ginger again but he's not there anymore.
    |

Ashley,
Sad to hear abt ginger-lookalike missing again, all because of a mad mad driver, a big shame on him!
I just don't understand these clowns that speed like mad in housing area, not only they are danger to children, animals but adults like us to!
I hope Ginger-lookalike will appear again, probably a little frightened over the encounter of the madman in 4WD...
:) Ginger will be back!
Love, Bina |

i saw ginger this morning at my back yard while i was preparing breakfast....he was responding to the wailing of his siblings who were yearning to go out and he sudeenly joined in, that's how i discovered him.
however he doesn't seem to recognise me and ran away again. i put out food for him but he doesn't come near.
it's going to be another long task to bring him home but i'm optimistic about it. pls wish me luck
also any suggestions, ideas , recommendations on how to get him to come home is welcomed! |

Hi everyone,
i hope i have cautious good news to share. just this weekend past, ginger reappeared at our backyard. last friday, when i returned in the evening, i spied him at our backyard, sitting forlornly agaisnt the wall as if waiting. however when i shout and called out to him, he ran away. i may have startled him as i was waving like crazy from the 1st floor window.
on saturday moning, i saw ginger again, this time asleep in my neighbour's backyard. my sis and i watched him for a long time, trying to spot identifying marks that would confirm that he's ginger. he has the correct intensity of colouration, markings, type of fur. as we watched he woke up and stared straight at us and we finally confirmed he is indeed ginger as we saw the marks that we wanted to spot. however either he was still drowsy from sleep or he truly not concerned, he sat watching us for 5 mins as we watched him and he proceeded to groom himself. he seemed interested when we held out food for him but didn't come near. eventually he left when my neighbour created lots of noise in the processing of coming out of her house. i trailed ginger to the tnb substation and left him some food there. i couldn't resist again calling for his attention and waving at him, at which he just ran away again. we were dejected.
come sunday evening, around 8pm i spotted ginger over at my neighbour's again, this time trying to clamber from his porch roof to ours. i called my sis. she spent half an hour talking to ginger from the window of her room, opening the window to let him in and feed him food and water. at 8.20pm ginger accepted our apologies for installing a mosquito mesh to our windows and door, (thus preventing easy access to our house) and accepted food from us. he also drank some water we put out.
same ol ginger, very gentlemanly and fine in behaviour. we can see that he was very very thin, we can see outline of his ribs and yet he ate slowly instead of wolfing everything down. we left him a variety of cat biscuit and kfc chicken meat plus a tablet of multivitamins (whatever we have on hand at that time). by day break, he has finished his supper and his water and his vitamin but nowwhere to be seen.
he showed up again, on the roof at my sis's window, sending me off to work.
let's hope he's still there when we returned from work this evening.
cos there's a female siamese cat with her kittens at our porch. she appeared saturday night and remained at our porch whole of sunday with her kittens. we gave her some food and water and she now considered our front porch to be hers!
i wonder if she's with ginger. either that or it's a coincidence that they both appeared at the same time.
thanks for all your support by reading my writings. just knowing that some other people also care for my ginger although they don't know him makes us feel better and help us in our long vigil. |

Hi All
I just wish to post the good news : Ginger is reunited with us. He came into our house yesterday.
However our work has just begun becuase Ginger is showing signs of being "feral" for almost half a year. we need to work with him .
But we're happy he's home again and first thing on the agenda is a trip to the vet to ensure that he's in good health.
thanks to you for all the support.

Hi bina
hey thanks for the congratulatory message. i appreciate it.
i'd love to share pics of my "babies" but i'm not that much of a 'nerdette" and i can't seem to find a way to post my pictures. one of the forum administrator, dr. nat i think, gave me some instructions previously but i've forgotten how. getting old i am.
the vet perform a physical examination on ginger as well as took blood samples. unfortunately he had to be sedated for the examination as he was very very scared and was trying hard to escape. i gave permission for the sedation as i want a thorough examination done with any injury to the vet nor to the cat. good news all around, skin and coat good shape, eyes no problem, limbs okay, no visible injury, damage, disease, no fleas, ticks and mites infestation, aside from dirty paw pads. only awaiting blood test results. the good doctor also helped us to clip his nails although i forgot to request it. she's a lifesaver, is dr. adah.
ginger is now safely ensconced in a big cat pen up in my brother's room (hope he doesn't find out and hope he doesn't read this forum. his is the 2nd biggest room in the whole hosue - imagine my cat get a room that's bigger than mine).
our vet advised us to put the whole carrier cage into the cat pen and let ginger came out on his on terms. he came out during the night when we were asleep but zipped back into his carrier cage when we looked in on him this morning. overall he seems fine but he's very very scared of us (i don't blame him). it's going to be a long while before we regain his trust again.
i'll certainly post the pics (when i figure out how) at a different topic, not here though. |
