Hi Drs and members,
I'm so glad to come across this site as it has so many useful tips and stories sharing especially for the 1st-timer. On 22nd March 2008, I've adopted a 2-months-old pup and named her Mango. The sad thing was she was covered with severe lesion with bleeding on her elbows and buttock area which resulted from biting and scratching. I didn't meet her previous owner n I presume she was poorly taken care in term of hygiene and meal. So I brought her to the vet nearby my area and the dr. "suspected" she was having early sign of sarcoptic mange and one skin allergy. So she was immediately started on antibiotic (1week +) and anti-parasite(2 weeks). Her medication was completed and due to see the vet this week. Although the med was finished, she's still scratching profusely but not as much as 1st day and her forehead and face starting to lose fur (bald patches).
I'm rather skeptical and uncomfortable with the vet's diagnosis as she didn't use any diagnostic method except for vision on lesion to start her treatment. The following week, I brought Mango in for injection and casually asked the vet what if she still sratching after med is completed. She told me then probably it's not mange and should start treating for allergies. I'm comtemplating to visit another vet as I'm really not sure with this current vet and besides I've heard lotsa negative feedbacks about this clinic/vets after I've brought Mango there. So is it advisable to do so after 1st treatment of the skin problem and 1st jab with the current vet?
Desperate mum. |
