I have no idea what's wrong with my red-eared terrapin. I think it's shell is not growing as he now looks like a fat lady fit in a small T-shirt. Yet, he is still active in crawling and swimming and he also eat a lot too. Can the VET help or he might be born naturally like this??

With no images, it's hard to determine.

Obese terrapins are unable to fully go into their shell when they're scared.

Since you said that it's eating alot, thats pretty much all I can assume from your explanation.

Lessen your feedings? Tell me more.

I saw the pictures and I'm actually pretty worried.

Is your terrapin's shell slightly soft? And I can see that it is not of normal shape...

The only thing I can assume is MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease), but I'm puzzled as you said your terrapin is moving and eating fine. MBD is very dangerous and I suggest you get it checked out by a vet.

Have you given him a proper diet? ( Not only pellets but a lot of types of vege too ) Does he get 1-2 hours of sunlight everyday?

Even if it isn't MBD, the only other alternative is obesity which means you are feeding it too much and it will result in organ failure and decreased lifespan.

Either way, bring it to a vet.

*btw, i am not a vet. I'm a just an herpetology enthusiast.*
