i remember reading somewhere that msia is free of rabies, that's why dogs here are not given vaccination against rabies, as opposed to the US, this vacc is a must...

yes, Malaysia is free from Rabies and to maintain that status, the authorities have established a rabies vaccination belt along the Malaysian/Thailand border that has a compulsory vaccination against rabies.
apparently, all cases of rabies originates from thailand thus far. |

some vets do stock rabies for dogs to be exported to oversea countries requesting the dog to be vaccinated against rabies prior to the travel date.
i usually do not entertain 'regular' rabies vaccination 'for fun', and i rather recommend the Kennel Cough vaccine if ever the owner is persistent. |

hehe selangor government change already, maybe the new government is more ready to listen to reason from a professional body... like MSAVA or even VAM?
seems like the new government (ex: the whole pig farming issue) really want to get things sorted and moving. hopefully we can get over the politics and focus on the real objectives and needs of the ppl. |

| the reason i asked abt rabies vacc in malaysia is because i read mpsj's dog by-law which stated all dogs must be vaccinated against rabies before owner applies for a dog license... i hope some1 in the new state govt will review some of the by-laws... :) |

| Ah... MPSJ? I didn't realise they also state rabies in their licensing forms. I know that Sepang and Ampang Jaya do, though I doubt anyone did any rabies vaccinations specially to get licence. |
