| Umm... there are no vaccinations for snakes. It is possible to deworm your snake and the deworming drugs are common with other small animals, which are available in most veterinary clinics :D . However, the using of such deworming drugs in snakes is usually for therapeutic purposes, and I do not come across any routine deworming schedule for snakes. |

There are no vaccine available in Malaysia. Basically there are 2 major viral diseases in boa. Inclusion body disease which is cause by retrovirus (same as AIDS) and the other one paramyxovirus infection. No effective vaccine, not even effective treatment. Basically just supportive care. Rememer to control external parasite becasue IBD is believed to be transmitted by snake mite.
Bacteria disease basically depends on the hygiene. 95-100% gram negative bacteria. Commonly seen is mouth rot and blister disease, pneumonia, or flu-like symptom.
It's good idea to routinely dewormed the snake. Ivermectin, fenbendazole and praziquantel is commonly used and it depends on what eggs is seen in the faecal sample.
The most important thing is blood python is a very fast and can be very aggressive. Do not underestimate it. It can be very nice and impressive to look at but be careful. Handle it often to make sure it is used to human contact. |

| What a beautiful boid. Be very careful with your cat because they make excellent meal for your new python. |

Could you tell us where to get the vaccines? (or the supplier for these vaccines). And do you have any idea on the vaccination schedule? |

Dear Wind,
Use the search function. Type "snake". You should be able to find the topics related to your question. |

Often it is normal for some snakes to "soak" themselves in water. And in fact it is advisable to provide a water bowl according to their body size (the curled up size or the lenght) to enble them to soak themselves in as they like...
Free feel to pose up your queries... |
