My cat is a 6 months old active female. 3 days ago, when I returned from work, she is unable to use her hind legs. The tail is also lifeless. The vet we visited said that this may be caused by injuries to its back bone. She also mentioned that sometimes, this happens to cats that eat fish and rice.
We haven'i done an X Ray because the clinic did not have that facility. But the vet said that most likely our cat will not be able to fully use its 4 limbs.
What is this disease and is there a cure? |

There is not enough history here for us to make any useful comments.
How is your cat now? |

What information would you need?
Brought our cat for x-ray at Hospital JPH Cheras, but x-ray machine is out of service :(. Early diagnosis is hind limb paralysis but I'm not satisfied because I still don't know what caused it.
My cat does not have any bruises. It was a sudden change. Today she was okay and the next she she became like this.
Thankfully my cat seems to be adjusting well... so far. I hope she'll be okay. It's just that it pains me to see her straining her neck (the the thing cats do when they want to scratch their ears) but her legs gave no response. |

Did the vet (assuming it is not just a vet assistant) advice you on how else to proceed?
There are quite a few things that can cause paralysis in cats. Did your cat had an accident? If you allow your cat freedom to the outside, then that is quite possible. Did you feed your cat just rice and fish?
Anyway, I cannot make any diagnosis through this forum, even if you provide me with a lot of details - as I have to examine the cat myself. So, I suggest that you take your cat to another vet for a diagnosis. There are lots of private vets around the Klang Valley. |
