Sooty, my hamster is having this infection on her ear. Previously, she was bitten by another hamster and bled. I took her to the vet and the vet cleaned the wound for her. I was told to apply iodine on her ear everyday. That was in last Dec. However, the wound did not recover at all and few nights ago, she scratched till the wound bleed. Now, it gets bigger and I don't know if I can trust the vet anymore.

I've uploaded 3 photos of Sooty. She is having fur loss on the other ear also lately.

Please help Sooty. Image 3 shows how worse her ear is now. :(

Well, it looks like the infection is getting more serious now I know you are being sceptical about sending Sooty to the vet. But the fact remain the same. Sooty definitely need some veterinary attention to prevent the infection to spread. Probably you should visit the vet again and suggest both antibiotic and anti-inflammatory.
However, I need to stress that I am making this judgement and suggestion by just looking at the pictures that you posted and also that I send this reply a week later (so probably situtation had changed). So the vet that you consulting probably suggest a different regime. So please refer to his advice and regime as he or she (the vet) had a more closer inspection of the animal than me!

Ok I wish you all the best with Sooty!!

I have no idea how to deal with that issue. Hopefully some Vet-Mod will drop in to giv some advise.

Wait-a-min, I 'think' theres somthing abt dealing with Hamster-Cuts in this months Petster Magazine. (Vet Advise) lemme get that n check . . . okayy. Its rather vague and very unclear. . .all the mag says is that apply antiseptic or antibiotic cream on the injury. No mention of which one. And since some meds can be harmful, u never know which is safe to use.

I would suggest you join hamsterhouse.com . . . its a vry nice hamster forum with lots of hamster lovers who give gr8 advise for our hammies. And its very active so you'll get ur answer within a day if not sooner. Also, u can post a pic and they can identify the prob. I wud strongly reccomend u post there. Hope Sooty gets well soon.

PS: I hope u seperated the hamster from its aggresor.
