| My terrapins also have the same problem. They sleeps a lot and not eating. Mine are worse because they have swollen eyes ang skin problems which was cause by dirty water. I've put in some medication in their swimming water and the eyes seems to getting better but they still not eating. :( Should I bring them to the VET?? |

xewei88,
You should watch your terrapin more carefully, one of mine has just die. :( She's not eating at all and this only last for 4 days. Maybe you should take yours to see the VET. |

| It sound like your terrapin is having a vitamin A deficiency. This is normally common among red ear slider. I would suggest that you send to the vet and recommend the vet to give injectable vitamin A. I hope this reply is not too late though! |

First of all, both Terrapins and Red-Eared Sliders are 2 different things. Red-Eared are turtles, terrapins are different.
Since none of the mods have adderessed the issue, I'll add my own 2 cents.
Do your turts have access to sunlight? Thats very imp. Its essential for thier health and also shell. But don't just plop the turt into direct sunlight, make SURE they have both shade and sunlight available so they can move away when they heat up and regulate thier temp.
Also, what kind of set-up do u have for them? Many ppl keep thier sliders in an only-water aquarium (including hi-fi petshops here) Thats WRONG. Red-Ears need BOTH dry-surface AND water. They love to bask on dry-land for sometime everyday. So make sure, the cage/tanl setup has somplace they can climp up on.
Apart from that, one of the common reasons why Sliders sometimes become lazy is due to fall in temperature. Pl google online for the correct temp to keep them in, 'cz in cooler weather they get sluggish and stop/reduce food intake. Maybe the Air Con is on in ur room a lot and the turtle just got cold and became sluggish. Does it have a heat-lamp? They kinda start to hibernate.
Maybe regulating the temp mite help. Goodluck. Hope they're not sick.. |
