My 4-month old Maltese puppy has been itching for several weeks already. When I first bought him, he was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange and treated with injections for a month (once a week). Now that he has recovered from mange, he's still itching although not as serious as before. He will run and play, and stop to scratch his elbow, bite his feet and lick his tummy. Initially I thought probably he has gotten some fleas and ticks and so we did the Frontline Spot-On treatment on him but he's still itching. I've checked his body thoroughly and there's no signs of ticks and fleas. His skin still looks normal too.
When I talked to the vet about it, he said it's probably food allergy. I'm now feeding him Fish & Rice kibbles, supplementing Cod Liver Oil on alternate days. It has been two weeks since he started on his new diet but still itching. I'm totally clueless of what to do next. Please help. |

| hey joey... i read once that if a dog is bored, they could "entertain" themselves to scratching themselves. perhaps you should have one or two toys around to entertain your doggy. |
