Company website:
http://www.petsunite.net/pis/pis.html

Info from the company website:
Quote: PetsUnite is a pet reunification solution that helps your pet to be identified when found so it can be safely returned to you.

My Question:
Anyone use their service before? What is your comment about this pet microchip ID service? :?:

Dr Tan,
I registered my dog under Petsunite, but I think they have no more active. Please double check. I don't even get any data cert or tag or whatever from them..

Have you tried to retrieve your dog's microchip ID from their database? I just wonder whether they do really store the data in their databse and their database is functional.

Microchip sold in M'sia is of ISO standard. They each has a 15-digit code on it, starting with the number 458 (Code for M'sia). This ISO microchip is used almost everywhere else (except for US, I think).

However, the most important part of microchipping, is the DATABASE. From here, one can match the code number with the details of the dog/cat and owner. From what I know, only MKA has a database of its certified pedigree dogs, and DBKL is trying to start one.

I think what everyone needs to do, is to urge our government to start a national database for all dogs and cats (or even other animals). It is also very important not only to start one, but to maintain it and update it regularly!

Asking the government to start a national database for dogs and cats? I think most likely they will say "no money". Funding is a big issue when you want to establish/setup something. But if this pet ID database can somehow generate money for the government that's different story.

they can always charge a "registration fee". I'm sure there'll be a continuous supply of new dogs and cats
