maybe instead of commiting everything into your memory (which is seldom long term) and regurgitating it out, it is wise to try understand the topic and that way you may appreciate the information a little better.

pls do not let exams and the need to excel take away the thrill of learning and exploring something new!

Ha!!ha!! That's remind me during my school time. Biology, actually i like this subject very much, to excel in it, beside memorizing , still memorizing. Unless you experince the things yourself, if not, memorizing still the only way master in the biology in school time. When the thing stick in your mind, then you will slowly wil understand the concept behind. That's the way i study biology in my school time. Only start to appreaciate after get into vet school, thing i learn during secondary school, will keep on repeating and i discover the answer.

Dont focus on one topic and go deep inside, you will lost. Try to go simple and remember the overview of the topic, don try to be perfect at the begining, slowly go deeper and deeper. Then it will help you remember well.

Nice answer!

I agree with Dr Han. I study biology by understanding first. Somehow the words comes naturally after you understand the concepts behind it.

I don't believe in memorizing the textbook and vomit everything out during the exam. It doesn't work for me. After the test, everything will disappear. And the examiner will not be happy having to look through all the vomitus when marking the exam paper. When you undertand your facts, digest it, you will remember. Although you sometimes forget, you still know where to find it. Even for physics formula and equation, you will remember better if you know the concept better.

I try to understand everything for biology. For STPM, I read a lot of A level's books because I think there are much better books and more detail.
