Hi there
Hope this isn't too late to be of help
This link takes you to some good advice on introducing a new cat to your other pets. From the UK organisation called FAB (Feline Advisory Bureau) that has heaps of good info on cat care, health, behaviour etc....

I am not a cat expert, and i only have hands-on experience with my girl since last year, however, i read a lot about animals since i can even remember, so i hope i could help in any way =)!
Is your male spayed? It could be opposite attractions? Or just to "protect" his territory?
I'm not positively sure with this, if i'm wrong please correct me, but i heard male cats who are not spayed might be more dominant, so it may just be a territorial problem.
What i remember from what i read last time, when you want to introduce a new cat to a home, its best if the new cat is younger and the opposite gender from the old cat, it'll make accepting the new family member easier =)! Its an added bonus if the new cat is spayed as well!
The first introduction is very important, if they didn't have a good first impression, there'll be more work for you to
This is my cousin's experience. She brought a new male cat home, and she already have an older male cat. The older cat did not react positively to the new cat at all, and apart from fighting, the older cat even showed his dissatisfaction by attempting to scratch my cousin, something he never did before. I felt this is because they wasn't introduced gradually and carefully, but rather the older cat have to accept the new cat all of a sudden and was jealous.
All in all, don't just take my word for it, its best to seek the advice of other people who may have more experiences! ALL THE BEST (^^ )! |
