Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor is the society that aims to protect defenseless animals and to alleviate their suffering. Established in 1958, the SPCA provides temporary shelter to unwanted animals in Selangor and the Federal Territory. These include mainly cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs ... usually pets that are no longer desired by their owners. From here, we try to rehome as many as possible but with more than 1,100 animals arriving every month (reaching some 13,000 annually), the shelter is constantly challenged by a shortage of space and limited funds.
We have 16 staffs which comprises of:
Office manager (Admin & Finance)
Public Relations Officer
Animal Inspector (attend to cruelty cases and check homes before pet adoption)
2 vets
1 receptionist
General workers
2 ambulance drivers
2 permanent volunteers
Services provided by the SPCA are:-
Adoption programme - Members of the public are encouraged to adopt animals from the SPCA. The adoption fee includes de-worming, vaccination and compulsory neutering (sterilization). All potential adopters are interviewed and advised, and should be agreeable to home visits by SPCA staff. The shelter is open to visitors everyday, 9am to 4pm.
Collection of animals - THE SPCA operates 2 ambulances which collect unwanted pets and confined strays, by appointment only. The SPCA does not have the manpower to chase/catch free-running strays. If transport is needed, please call SPCA at (03) 4256-5312 or (03) 4253-5179 during office hours to have arrangements made as soon as possible.
Stray animals in distress - Whilst the animal shelter will receive sick, injured or very young, orphaned animals round-the-clock, the SPCA ambulance can respond to distress calls only between 8am - 8pm. Pet owners with emergencies should consult their own veterinarians; the SPCA is able to advise on where their nearest available vet is located.
Inspection of cruelty complaints - SPCA inspectors investigate complaints relating to animal cruelty whenever possible. The identity of complainants is kept confidential; anonymous callers will not be entertained.
Educational talks - Upon request, talks are conducted either on SPCA premises or at schools, clubs and other organizations to discuss topics such as responsible ownership, animal care, strays, neutering etc.

DBKL-SPCA KLINIK KEMBIRI
KLINIK KEMBIRI is part of SPCA and it offers a highly subsidised spay/neuter to the public, particularly amongst the lower income group. This is part of SPCA's campaign to promote spay/neuter as one of the means to control the stay population.

Good that you've neutered your doggie! :) And good for your doggie too
BTW, if anyone is interested in donating to SPCA, they can go to SPCA in Ampang, and make a donation there. Besides cash, they'll take dog food, cages, old newspapers etc.
Alternatively, they can sign up for a monthly pledge which they'll charge though your credit card. http://www.catzmedia.com/spca/donations.htm
Currently online options are not available. |

no credit card. no money to donate freely coz my parents not very fond of animals. so sad. but i did donate only rm50 to the spca in kuching when i went back to my hometown in kuching with only my sis and bro and rm150 from my parents to spend on whatever we want. and since my favourite auntie and uncle knows that i'll go ecstatic over animals especially dogs and cats, they brought me to visit spca there.
not a very pleasant place i must say, but they are lots of space there. |

then go to PAWS instead, if you can get there :) If I'm not mistaken, ppl under 18 need a parent to sign the volunteer form.
Anyway, what they really need is for ppl like you to create awareness on responsible pet ownership and animal cruelty. So, as long as you pass on this message to your friends or in your school, you're already helping a lot! |
