Greetings,
I've just moved to KL. I need to establish a relationship with a vet in the area for my companion. I know right off the bat that my girl is going to need a urinalysis as she was treated for a bad infection prior to our departure. I am also interested in having a CBC and blood chem profile done for her. My questions are: (1) Do the vets do all of their own lab work in house or are items sent out for analysis. If items are sent out-where do they go? (2) Do any of the vets do titer testing to check levels for things like distemper and rabies? (3) Having just moved to this country I have no idea what vet visits and lab work cost. Can someone provide me with an estimate of what things cost? ( You can do high end of the spectrum, low end of the spectrum. Just looking for a ballpark figure so I can budget properly.)
I'd love suggestions for a good doctor in the area. I'm near Ampang and would like to find someone close by. However, I will travel for the right level of care for my girl. Bed side manner and patience(ie: You have to go slow!) is a big thing for me as my dog is somewhat under socialized ( despite my best attempts) with people. It would also be nice if they were a bit open minded and willing to work with us (me and my dog) for her care as far as treatments etc. vs the jab and go kind of doc. I apologize for the lengthy post. It's just that I went through A LOT to get my dog and cat here and won't really feel settled in my new home until I get them established with the right doctor/practice.
Many thanks,
Mutt |

You are staying at Ampang? then the only clinic that i know of there is the Animal Medical Centre (AMC), you can get them at:
03- 404 215 31
they are pretty well recognized not only with proper diagnostic tools but also excellent service! |

| AMC is located in Jalan Ipoh, a stone's throw from Ampang. There are several more clinics in Ampang itself, which you can find the addresses in the vet clinics section of the forum. |
