Sunday , 7/10/2007. 6.30pm. Bandar Bkt Tinggi, Klang,Selangor.
Yesterday I came across a dog severely hit on the head by a car (moving at least 80 km/hr speed).
Me and the owner (terrified) took the dog when to 3 different vet clinics and none was opened. The last one attached with a pet shop which abt to close. We convinced the worker, to call up the doctor who was abt 1 hr away frm the clinic. They dont really work on Sundays. The doctor agreed to come over and came 1 hr later.
Just curious to know, whether any VET doctors /clinics operate on Sunday . What if the pet very ill middle of the night?
I just dont see important values given for animals? does this happen everywhere ? |

dear kvharan,
what you mentioned is indeed a lacking in veterinary services in this country, and for that much, on behalf of the vets i extend my apologies and hope the animal hit by the car survived the trauma.
a few of the main reason why there is a lack in 24 hour vet service coverage in malaysia is the lack of manpower, skilled professionals and to a little extent courage to endure the high crime rates on our land. although i know all these are inconsequencial when a life is hanging by a thread, most of us vets is more than willing to go out and treat an animal if we know (ie you have your vets' personal number).
thus, my personal recommendation in case such tragic incident were to happen again, is to keep the number of your personal vet close to you, and if possible keep a few vets' number in your handphone, just in case you cannot reach your usual vet.
nevertheless, kvharan there is at least 2 private vet practice in KL that i know about that provide 24hour coverage, one is in Ampang, and the other is in Cheras. |
