Hi
My kitten is sick and the vet doesn't know what is the cause. I've put my kitten at the clinic for 3 days of observation and the doctor still doesn't know what is causing it. She just had her vaccination about week plus ago. before that, she was normal and healthy although slightly fussy eater. now she won't even want to eat her food and she is getting very thin - like an aneroxic and she is also anaemic. doctor confirmed that she is anaemic, loss of appetite, very thin (around 1.7kg or less for a 5 mth old kitten), running fever . doctor gave antibiotics and some liquid medicine to stimualate appetite and then just asked us to take her home
i'm worried sick.
also the reactions of the other kittens to this kitten puzzled us. the other kittens refused to play with her and will hiss, snarl or hit out at her if she goes near them
why is this so??
can anyone help to shed any light on this? |

| Good to hear that. How do the other kittens react to her now? |

hi dr nat
didn't mean to be rude and not reply to you but i kept forgetting my password and the new password after that and the one after that.
anna, (that's her name), had since recovered. after about a few days from the original "incidence", the other kittens "reacted" normally to her, after we wiped her d own with a damp towel. but she lost her place in the pack - she got bumped down to 4th place.
she had also put on weight a bit.
i took her for checkup and her vet confirmed that she's okay now. i followed up with booster vaccinations for her. she had completed her vaccination including vaccination against feline leukemia and feline immuno-deficiency virus
she is getting more "naughty" and "Cheekier" but also more lovable.
unfortunately she doesn't seem to be growing up - for a kitten that's "guess-timated at 8 months old+, she looks like a 6 mths old kitten, and her siblings are more than double her size, and although her vet assured me that anna is in good health, i can't but wonder whether her growth is stunted. also can't help but wonder whether that particular period of sickness affected her health. she more than made up for it in agility and speed and intellingence and compassion.
is there any growth food i can feed to her? |
