Dear Doctors and anyone who cares,
Hope you can give me your point of views.
My kittens are 4 weeks old. Last week they had eye infection. Went to vet and got eye-drop and antibiotic form them.
Now, 1 of them is perfectly healthy. 1 of them is now 1-eyed (mata sebelah pecah doc cakap). The other 1 which I fear the most seem to have cataract on both eyes. She seems disorientated and only responds to sound or our voice. Obviously, she can't see through those cloudy cataract.
Now I read that the only treatment for cataract is surgery. Surely expensive, I know. But how expensive? How much? RM500? RM700? I need to know.. And is it ok for this 4 weeks old kitten to go under the knife?
For anybody who has any information about this, please please please share it with me. I'm willing to save up all my money for my kitten to be able to see again.
Please. Thank you so much in advanced. |

Actually, I only brought the now 1-eyed kitten to the vet since she suffer the worst eye infection among them all. So the vet didn't give any diagnose to the 'cataract' kitten. But I'm quite sure it's cataract... They are cloudy, white-greyish layer on both eyes. The eyes themselves are in ok condition now, no more taik mata, no tears, no yellowish thing, but just those damn 'cataract', which I'm sure impair my kitten's vision.
Doc, if it's not cataract, then what is it? My previous cats (mother cat and sibling of mother cat) don't have this.
Thank you in advanced |

i do not know what it is (since i never seen them) but it could be from corneal erosion, corneal oedema, corneal ulcer, keratitis, blepharitis, ankyloblepharon, corneal dystrophy, symblepharon, anterior uveitis, conjunctivitis and many more!
so i think it may be wise to ascertain the correct diagnosis, and maybe you should re-visit the vet for a follow up? |

Dear doc,
Guess I should re-visit my vet. But 1 more question, if it is one of those list that you mention, what's the worst that could happen to my kitten?
Thanks doc |

| well the worst would be blindness and the ultimate nightmare would involve total eye enucleation (meaning the whole eyeball would be removed). |
