im new here... :D
just drop by to say hello and to introduce myself..
im from penang..but stay in puchong,selangor...
im interested in pet birds...i love birds very much...
im graduated from UPM as a veterinary doctor in 2005.. im working as a vet officer somewhere in KL almost 2 years (only birds)...

here, i would like to say something..just to remind all of you (remind ur fren)...about keeping a bird especially cockatoos...such as macaw, sulphur crested cockatoo, african grey parrot etc...those bird are easily stress-up when be neglected and they will start pecking their feather till they injured themself (sometimes they can also lost their toes) Can you imagine how stress they are???.. so, please make sure you have time to play or be together with ur pet birds before you plan to keep this bird. This is because im so sick and very sad seeing naked bird (no feather at all) due to not get attention from their owner (common answer that i've received is..i dont have time to be with my birdy)... :x just like they dont care about their birds!

for anyone who plan to keep the bird as a pet, i recommend you..
(i) identify what kind of birds you like
(ii) check ur bird character or personality
(iii) make sure you have time to be with them
(iv) make sure you have enough expenses for their food, housing, health check, playing tools and etc
(v) have a knowledge on birds at least a basic knowledge

BUT....
id prefer you to start with the easiest birds first ( i mean cheaper birds and easy to take care) ... likes budgies or finches...this birds easy to handle.. no need much attention and some more they very cute, active and colourful... :D

p/s: hope we can share what we have, and our experience and information... (im still learning too n never stop :) )

love,
Dr Maira

Yeah, that's why our family don't keep our elder parrots (an old couple) anymore coz we always travel back and fro between West and East Malaysia.Anyway, welcome!

Ya, birds are very stress prone. I had a Eastern Rosella died upon X-ray and Macaw died a few days after fracture repair. Very scared.
