|
|
Hello. I'm new here. Just wanna ask about my cat, Tomok. He's now having a disease just like in the picture below. I've brought him to the vet and was told that he was infected by some kind of virus. Can't recall the name but the virus is dangerous to the males where it can disturb the fertilities. Rite now i'm giving him a medication pill called Itraconozale and also pills to reduce the risk of getting liver toxicity. He's getting better but the wounds never stop growing back. Is there any other way to treat n cure Tomok? Thank you. :(

| Itraconazole is medicine for fungal infections. Perhaps your cat is having fungal infection, and not viral. Most fungal infections take a long time to cure. You need to give the medications persistently. If you think its not helping, then you may need to visit the vet again. |

like other drugs this group of medication, there will be concurrent liver toxicity and maybe that is why the vet has wisely given a liver protectant to reduce the liver toxicity.
nevertheless, itraconazole is one of the safest within this group (meaning the most minimum liver toxicity) and is a excellent choice to treat fungal infections. main side effects would be vomitting and diarrhoea. |

hello doctors and people who have ideas about this.
my tomok is getting worse. we skipped the medications for about a week++ since my family and i went to balik kampung on raya. at first, tomok's face and legs were swollen. the swollens got bigger day by day. so we after a week++, we went to vet to get the medicine. unfortunately, the swollens broke and became wounds just like the first day he suffered from this disease. i can't bear to see him suffer anymore. he even let his tougue stick out. i don't know whether the pills gave side effects such as heat inside the body or etc. can you guys help me?

Like I mentioned earlier, many fungal disease take very long time to cure. So its crucial to continue the medication until it recovers FULLY. By stopping the medication, you are giving a chance for the fungal to "breakout" and become worse.
My only advice I can give you now, is to bring back your cat to your vet to have a look at its condition now. Then the vet can recommend you the next course of action. |
