She's an A Levels student waiting for results. You can check out StHoly's posts on the student's forum.
StHoly, I don't know if many places are willing to pay you for your help. But if you genuinely want to gain experience, there are lots of good places you can volunteer to gain some experience and insight into the vet's job. |

ah..
no i'm a level student first year only.. >.<
taking AS this year..
yea..
i volunteer myself to work in SPCA every weekend, but i had a feeling that it's not just that, what a vet should do..
i can just volunteer into any vet clinic even they don't have to pay me? |

oh ok, cause apparently even 1st year vet students in UPM will be required to attend to practicals, so i presumed...
then i guess, you should go to the practice nearest to you! who is your familys' regular vet? |

it's near to my house that clinic
but i'm not really sure if they mind hire me as assistant..
furthermore, my entry requirements also need at least 2 weeks of practical
since i can't find any other time that i'm free to do it...
might as well do it during the holidays >.< |

| I used to work in government small animal clinics during the semester break in my early years in vet school. It was a good experience. (Wonder why I didn't end up being a small animal vet haha) |

@ Dr Tan
You are researcher and lecturer quality, why waste your talent in Small animal practice.
@StHoly,
If you are doing small animal clinic, you will be doing almost the same thing as in SPCA. I don't think anyone will let you handle needle and others. At least I was washing cages and dishes at my earlier year when I volunteer in Universiti Veterinary Hospital |

but if i were to put there, i've been working voluntarily in SPCA, would the Unis count that as Practical?
cause i'm afraid they might not acknowledge what i did in SPCA and wanted me to go to a clinic instead to do my practical... |

Practical? I thought it was just to gain experience? If for practicals, usually there are guidelines and you can only do it on recognised places. So, it depends what you're doing the practical for. You have to ask your supervisor on this.
However, if you just want to gain experience to put into your CV, then the SPCA will do just fine. In fact, a lot of overseas people actually look up on people who do charity. Look at the guidelines on the uni you want to apply. Some say you get bonus points for experience. Ask them what sort of experience they're after. |

ahahha >.<
well for Unis, i'll have to attend at least 2 weeks of practical before i take the course..
'In addition to the academic requirements you must have completed at least two weeks' work experience in a veterinary practice.'
so does that mean i have to go to some certain clinics to do my practical? |

I see...
in that case, its best you pick an established veterinary clinic.
Good luck! |
