Dear All,
Need some advice here. I would like to import chinchilla from China to Penang, Malaysia. I have some doubts which need some assistance.
1) Does chinchilla consider as exotic animal? since it is breed as pet and keep as pet in overseas nowadays. Do I need to obtain licence from PERHILITAN? how should I go about?
2) Understand that wild imported animals should quarantined in KL before enter Malaysia. Please advice whether there is any air conditions available during quarantine, as chinchillas cannot survice in warm conditions. How many days is the duration and how much is the charges per day?
3) What information do i need to provide for import permit. I'm importing the chinchilas as pet. Not for commercial purpose. The amount will be 1 or 2 only.
4)Please advice if i missed out anything.

You should contact the PERHILITAN to check if it is allowed to bring in and keep a chinchilla or if you'll need special licences.
On importing, all your questions should be directed to the JPH. They are in charge of the quarantine and approving your permit to import these animals. |

| Finally i got to call the penang animal quarantine station. unfortunaely, the person who is talking to me cannot help me much though.. |
