The "Universiti Pertanian Malaysia Veterinary Alumni" was conceived in 1981 and eventually registered in 1985 with the aim of maintaining and strengthening goodrelations between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UPM, graduates and community.

The objectives of UVA are:
a). to unite graduates of the FACULTY through promoting educational, professional and social communications.
b). to strive for the betterment of the members in their profession.
c). to offer continued assistance to the FACULTY and UPM.
d). to aid in maintaining good relations with the public, FACULTY and students.

Ordinary Membership is open to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduates of the FACULTY, whilst the academic and professional staff, as well as the post graduate alumni of the FACULTY and individual interested in , or engaged in veterinary science are encouraged to be associate members. The UVA also confers honorary membership on persons who have done exceptional work or given meritorious service to veterinary science.

The UVA publishes its own newsletter "VETLINK" and frequently organises seminars and workshops. The UVA education fund has enabled the UVA to support its members to attend professional conferences, seminars or workshops. The UVA contributes to Howell-Jubb prize for the best DVM student in the subject of Veterinary Applied Science. Other social activities such as reunion dinners, sporting events and gatherings are also organized. The scope of the UVA activities is increasing with the active support of its members. It is the wish of the UVA that the veterinary link between the alumni and those in the veterinary profession will grow in strength in the future.
