Coming up – largest pet cemetery

SEMENYIH: A pet cemetery, the first in Malaysia, will be opened at the Nirvana Memorial Park by next month.

The 20,000 sq feet cemetery is exclusively for cats and dogs, said Kong Lian Yew, a senior marketing manager of the NV Multi Group, who mooted the idea of setting up a pet cemetery after burying his pet dog Fifi last year.

As many pet owners were children, Kong said he designed the cemetery with a children’s theme park in mind.

In memory: The public having a look at the design of the entrance to the pet cemetery at the Nirvana Memorial Park in Semenyih on Wednesday.
For RM6,800, workers will pick up the remains of the animal from home, place it in a sealed body bag and send it to the cemetery where specialists would disinfect the body before placing the animal into a specially-made coffin.

The animal will be buried within 24 hours and a tombstone will be erected.

The cemetery is offering a promotional price of RM4,800. Kong said that 16 burial plots had been sold so far.

that is pretty expensive isnt it? but then, they do give a 24 hours package. nevertheless, maybe some local private cemetary may follow suit with a better pricing, only then common folks will feel more willing to cremate and erect a grave for their pets.

probably the price is expensive coz the disenfect, the special coffin and the transport. anyway, great for owners who want their beloved to have proper burials. Though, i myself prefer my cats to be buried in the backyard, closer to me :D

I also think that is a little bit expensive. Hope they can reduce their pricing.

Frankly, I know pets can be a big part of a family and should be treated as such even after they're gone forever. I myself am the type of person that gets very emotionally attached to my pets. But the question is, is it really necessary to spend such a large sum of money on a deceased pet when the amount of money spent is urgently needed to help other animals? For example, our local SPCA needs the sum of money to finance their rescues, and the thousands can come in handy. Instead we spend that much money to get a tombstone for a pet.

I am not implying that animals are not 'worthy' enough to have a proper burial ceremony or something, just that we shold tone down things a little, and use the money to help other animals. I think this is much much more beneficial to the animal kingdom and to the society. Besides, your pet can have good karma :D The carcass can either be cremeted or buried in your yard.

Burial services would be considerable if it wasn't so expensive... Can things be less commercial? ugh.
