i think such question is too technical, as teeth aging comes with a lot of diagrams and explaination. this includes the dentition formula of decidous and permanent tooth.
but in a nutshell, its all based on wear and tear of the various teeth and gums of the animal. and it is based on this wear and tear we are able to gauge an animals' age. it is not nessarily accurate. just a rough estimation. it is the same across species from dogs, horses etc |

Dr Han is right. Vets usually look at the animal's teeth to guess their age. This is all just rough estimate, and the accuracy is less as the animal gets older.
Anyway, I found this online:
http://www.ruralareavet.org/PDF/Physical_Exam-How_to_Determine_Age.pdf
It may be a bit too much information, but it gives you an idea of how vets age pets.
If that is confusing for you, I found this online too:

For very very young kittens, you can also look at other things besides their teeth to estimate their age, based on their development.
Of course, if you want the easy way... bring it to a vet :) |
