I ask this behalf of my fren :wink:

She have a mixed breed dog which is very sensitive and aggresive.

She meet 2 vets for the blood test enquiries .
.
Vet A said the dog shouldnt be put anesthesia b4 the blood test,coz the blood result would be affected and be not accurate.

Vet B said the dog have to put anesthesia 1st b4 getting blood sample,coz the dog too aggresive.

My fren feel very confusing about this and dun know what to do.
Hope can get some other opinions from here, Thanks Vets~

well that depends why are you collecting the blood for and what parameters are you hoping to measure. while some parameters are affected by stress resulting in not so accurate reading, some parameters are not affected.

but if the animal is fine and dandy, i do not see any reason to collect blood for fun even if its for a yearly screen.

i c..She request to do the blood test 1st b4 the castration operation.i guess is to ensure her dog healthy enuff to go thru the operation...

yea shud do the blood test, very aggressive, u can first muzzle the dog, alone, then maybe blind fold him,
ur fren n' a family member that the dog knows can be there to hold him, while the vet
will draw blood from the foreleg.
