i have tried eagle pack(holistic series), canidae before...both really good...eagle pack one is better for my rotties coat, but he onli gain weight on Canidae & he's full of energy as well...between this 2, i recommend Canidae bcoz its cheaper but the quality is really good . (note that eagle pack contains beet pulp, a controversial filler.)
Accana, also got beet pulp in the ingredient list...so its not so good for ue dog. |

We also feed our dogs with eagle pack, and share the same sentiments with you zonda. they do not really put on weight, but instead they do build up lean muscle mass instead of fat.
however, they are not as palatable as other brands (RC, Eukanuba, Bill Jack etc)but animals fed on eagle packs' faeces stink less as well. nevertheless, despite the higher price they do come with consistent quality and also service. |

i've check some info about beet pulp in the net, it said that beet pulp is high in energy and fiber and it's good for our pet's stools, it's said to be disadvantage because it will swelling in the stomach and plugging of the intestinal villus, but all this is due to taking in a large amount, mostly is refer to horses.
so i think that dosage of beet pulp in dog food should be ok.
i'm not sure whether my info is correct, hope those pro people can giv some view. |

Erm.. "What is the best diet to feed a dog?" and my answer wld be “that depends”. Dogs are individuals, just like people. Some dogs prefer dry food, some canned. Some dogs prefer chicken, some prefer lamb.
As for me, i rotated food for my dog every 3 mths til’ i determine which one works best that fits his needs, whether it's weight control, performance, maintenance. Beside, dogs that get lots of exercise also have different nutritional requirements. Most importantly, feed your dog the best food you can afford. Generally, the more you spend, the better-quality, healthier food you'll feed.
If i was given only above-mentioned choice, i would choose eagle pack & i know it may sound silly.. the reason is "it was the first FREE dog food" i've ever received (given by my vet..) :D |
