I'm sure many of u faces this problem..
My dog, BaoBao is 1 yr 10 mths old & he refused to pee / poo in his crate . I don't know if I shd be ashamed of this or proud but BaoBao once held it for about 16 hours!
I usually out of my house to work ard 6.30am in the morning & reach home at 7.30pm (13 hrs). Sometimes I couldn’t make it home til’ late on few occasion & BaoBao waited almost 16 hours a few times.
I was told that the standard “holding time” for dogs was 12 hours. But he usually asks to go out about at least 5 times a day when I was home.
It is not always easy, cuz' as a fact, he cannot come with us to most social events nor can she be easily given to someone else to watch, so often if we want to go away for a day trip he must stay home, which means we have to return home in time to let him out to pee!
Nevertheless, he doesn't seem particularly distressed by this, but is it ok to have him wait that long? |

There's no exact time limit for your dog to hold in. 12 hours is a good rough guide. Some can hold it longer, some cant. But its never a good idea to let your dog hold it in for too long.
If you can, bring your dog out before you go to work, and immediately when you come back. If you cant come home in time, get someone else to help you bring him out. Many dogs are "clean" dogs and they will not do their dirty business in their own cage. |
