I adopted my female cat from one of the local shelters.
I was told that she has been spayed.
But now she's on heat. What should I do ? :?:
Thank You in advance ! :) |

Cats on heat is very difficult to tell. They signs that you mention here, maybe be because she's on heat, or it may not.
Call the animal shelter, and arrange for the vet to have a look at the cat. |

One way to tell if she's on heat, is to rub her rump area or near her *toot* (hehe). If she's on heat, she will assume a mating position: head down, forelegs bent, rear quarters raised to expose the perineum ( this raised posture is called lordosis), with the tail raised and held to the side of the body. Her rear legs will tread rhythmically, as if walking in place.

| my female cat called erra is very garang and i try nak suruh my persian tengku johan kawin with this erra. dah seminggu satu kandang tapi tak ada progress. nampak nya tengku johan takut sesangat with erra. tapi kalau si yusri yang terkam...no problem pulak. ada kah kucing kucing ini pandai memilih pasangan or cuma mahu dengan pasangan yang lepas saja? tengku johan is very sentimental and very cute in his own style tapi erra, sekali pandang u will know she is so curious, active and agak garang..... |

Looks like it, but I'm not sure.. I just found this pic online at another website :)
So, if your cat is on heat, do bring it back to where you got it for a check up. |

Its called sexual selection (something like natural selection - Darwin's theory of evolution). Females in their prime will try to select males that are superior, so that their offspring will be healthy and stronger than the previous generation. How female cats select superior male cats, I'm not too sure bout that.
Perhaps, johan is still young? Or perhaps in your household, johan is at the bottom of the heirachy. Sometimes, they may not be as healthy as you think (maybe they carry some genetical disorder?). Has johan mated before? Maybe he could have a defect with his reproductive system? There are so many more possibilities. You may want to bring johan for a check up with a vet to know more. |

As a staff of SPCA, I don't suggest you breed cats. Try adopting instead. There are too many unwanted kittens and cats out there!
Otherwise, if you do breed them, make sure you find good homes for all of them!
read this story first:

I totally agree with Dr Nat. There are just too many stray cats. Many of these stray cats are infested with tons of parasites and lead a miserable life. If anyone wants a cat, support SPCA and pick up a lovely kitten from them! |

| Dear beatnix, perhaps you should ask Dr Nat for help. You can ask in the forum or private message her. I'm sure she is willing to help  |
