Yo everyone...finally through rayuan, I managed to dapat offer
Diploma Perhutanan kat UPM. But currently I'm doing my Alevels
in TAR college, Setapak. Vet is my dream job and I know if I do
very well in forestry, I can apply for internal transfer. Alevels pula
very challenging but if I pass with good grades, I can do the same
course in foreign countries. My parents said they're happy with whatever
decision I make. I wanna ask you guys whether its better to enter UPM
or continue with Alevels....if you guys dont mind..can you guys make a fair
comparison between the options? Thank you. |

Well, Asterix, I totally understand what you are going through now. I was in your exact situation long time ago. I was halfway doing my A Levels, when I got the offer to join DKHP. If I had joined in the diploma program then, I would have graduated from DVM one year earlier.
However, I decided to stick to A Levels. My reason, if I would to join diploma, it would have really limited me to what I can do later on or where I can continue my studies. To me, A Levels was more internationally recognised, yet still "easier" than STPM. And also at this time, I was also reconsidering if vet was the career path that I really wanted. I wanted my options to be open to other things as well.
But I can see your dilemma. Both diploma or A Levels does not guarantee you priority entrance to DVM course. With diploma, you are in the university, which gives you more chances of transfering course. With A Levels, you are more recognised with other colleges/university internationally. I guess, in a way, you have to ask yourself what you really want and you know yourself more - can you get the results you want? |

Asterix, did you accept the offer after all?
I'm a student at UPMKB and the intake for this semester is remarkably low...haha
For a fact I know of 3 students(maybe more or those who even applied) from Dip.Pertanian who got into DVM this semester.
I don't think Dip.Perhutanan should be a barrier for you to enter DVM later on. :) |
