Hi. I'm wondering if any of the vets who participate in this forum offer emergency services for middle of the night pet emergencies?

The reason why I ask this is because last night, one of my friends called me to find out if I knew of any 24 hour vet clinics because my friend's cat seemed to be choking.
Neither of us knew of any other 24 hour vet clinic except for the one in Jalan Tun Razak so reluctantly, my friend took the cat there. The experience for my friend and the cat were less than satisfactory. I have given my friend the details of this forum so that the details of the unsatisfactory vet care can be posted here.

For myself, I had a poor impression of that 24 hour vet clinic when I took my mother's dog there at 10pm one night. The attendant who came to the door was only interested in laying out the charges and refused to call the vet until I agreed to pay the basic charges which came up to around RM500 - before fees for tests or medication. When I agreed to pay the charges - but before I handed over the money - the attendant informed me that there was no vet in attendance and I would have to wait while they called one to come in. When I asked how long the vet would take to come in, the attendant got shirty with me and snapped that it was in the middle of the night and I should be grateful to be able to get a vet. Fortunately, my mother called at that time to tell me that she had managed to get hold of her friend (who is the dog's regular vet) and that he'd agreed to take a look at the dog at that time of night as a favour to my mother. It gave me great pleasure to tell the attendant to get stuffed. The total cost of the visit to the regular vet (inclusive of surgery and medication) was a fraction of the RM500 upfront demanded by the 24 hour vet.
While I realise that a 24 hour clinic would cost more to run than a regular vet's clinic, the 24 hour vet's clinic screamed of financial exploitation of worried pet owners rather than a genuine concern for animal welfare.

If any vets offer emergency services could they please post details in this forum? I was lucky to get the help of my regular vet that time but others would not be so lucky when they need help for their pets in the middle of the night and they'd be forced to use the 24 hour clinic in Jalan Tun Razak - like my friend and the unfortunate cat.
