Ok, finally I'm gonna voice out about something that happened 3 years ago..in Kampung Pandan area. Behind my aunt's house, there was about 5-8 illegal "habitation" and each of the house owners owns at least a dog. Since the government dont want any illegal houses on their land, they gave everyone a home in a nearby flat where you're not allowed to bring in your pets. The sad part is..the dog owners just abandon their dogs and move out...and the place where "hancured" few days after.
All the dogs(abt 7-9) were kinda lost and all of em gather behind my aunt's house. She's dog lover but you cant take care of 7-9 dogs if you're a total stranger to em right?..so she called SPCA. Guess what they said to her..."Maaf ye..Puan bawa semua anjing tu dtang sini selepas tu Puan kena donate" and they told her they cant simply come and take all th dogs away.
My aunt was disappointed. One day, rain falls heavily and all the dogs disappeared. Til now, I have no clue what happened to all the dogs.
Can I blame SPCA or memang they respond in such manner?... |

SPCA receives about 1000 animals to their shelter every month. They simply cannot afford to go out there to catch dogs roaming about, in terms of funds and labour. But SPCA will accept it if you bring the dogs there yourself, or if you've caught the dogs and get SPCA to send transport over to pick them up (with some extra donation). Actually, roaming/stray dogs are the responsibility of the local councils. Your aunt should have directed her call to them instead.
However, in reality, those abandoned dogs would really have no chance to live. If caught by local municipal councils, those dogs will be euthanised if no one claims them. If sent to SPCA or other shelters, they might have a slim chance of getting adopted. But really, people would rather get a new pup than adult dogs that are not familiar to them. The best chance for these kind of dogs, is if a caring individual takes care of them and finds homes for them. |

| I totally agree with Dr Nat. With little resources, SPCA has done their best to care for the stray dogs and cats. Asterix, if you free, how about volunteer or pay a visit to them? You will know what I mean :-) |

The contact numbers for the local councils are located in the lost dog section.

Looking after the welfare of our fellow creations like dogs is everybody's business and responsibility. It is just not anyone's or anybody' particular responsibility.
We human should be civilized enough to give back to those dogs that have served and loved us. Some of us just abandoned their dogs when they think that they (the dogs) are of no more use to them. They, without thinking, will just abandon puppies by the dumpsite when they could not cope with the number.
Remember, Malaysia will never be recognized as a developed nation until and unless we take good care of our animals! |

a misdemeanor just like a slap on the hand...
later i will post a link to a documentary, and u guys can be the judge...
