dogathon is an annual charity dog event by students of veterinary medicine faculty in UPM. it aims to raise fund for stray animals spaying project, pro-kasih. this event is open to the public. as the organiser our aim is to let the participants have fun while doing charity work. every year we have a creative theme and loads of fun games .certainly we hope to improve this year. here i would like to ask for feedback and suggestions from everyone. u can talk about not only your past experiences but also what you wish to see in the future FOR DOGATHON! thanks! have a nice day!

Hi guys. I am Mellissa Aw, Dogathon Director 2007. I really hope that all of the doggie lovers will give some feedback to Dogathon 2006. Besides, you can also tell us what you all expect in Dogathon 2007!!
By the way, this year theme is "KINGS AND CASTLE". If you have any funky and creative idea for our games this year, please don't hesitate to tell us here in this forum and join in to share more opinion. :lol:

Hi, I'm Saw Ping Yee, Programmer of Dogathon 2007. Please do not hesitate to leave any comment or ideas in this topic. We need your help to improve our Dogathon 2007 so that there will be more fun this time. As our Director mentioned, our theme for this year is King and Castle, but this is just a guide line, if you have any ideas beyond that, you are always welcome to leave a message here. sure queens are included! in the castle theres always queen , princess, prince and fairy godmother also right?(in case its disney cartoon) u can dress ur dog as the servant also... everyone is invited to the party!!!!! hurray... :D

Hehe... don't worry we will never forget about the queen. Like what sin tatt had mention, in the castle there will be queen, prince, princess, guards, Lord, countess. Actually we even can have "french maid" too. So owners can have plenty of choices to dress up their dogs that day. :roll:

If anyone who loves to join Dogathon 2007 which falls on 12 Aug 2007 please send your name, address and contact number to our official email address : dogathon2007 so we can send you the pamphlet and info about dogathon 2007.

This year theme will be Kings and Castle with the slogan: A loyal dog is a Royal dog. Our main sponsor is Pedigree.

You can dress up your dogs as royalties which is from Kings, Queens, Prince and Princess to guards (Like the queens guard) and french maid.

The events we going to have is our normal Dog race (which is the major highlight of the event) , Master Hunt , Faster eating duo and some other new games for this year as well.

Dogathon not only have games but we are going to have some sort of carnivals where variuos of dog products from dog food, dog clothes to dog supplement and vitamins.

Hey Mel, Fawn n Groovy here from Petnu.

V always enjoy ourselves at d Dogathon events. 1 of d more interesting doggie events around town, genuinely friendly n games r open to all dogs. Excellent venue n great demos as well.

Possible room 4 improvement:
1. Try not 2 allow proceedings 2 drag on 4 too long. Shld finish by say 1pm, otherwise d crowd wld hv already dispersed come d prize giving ceremony.
2. Best not 2 keep repeating n calling out 4 d contestants. Once is sufficient.
3. Try not 2 hv 2 many repetitive registration procedures eg. upon entry n upon participation 4 d games. Once is enof.
3. Can probably introduce 1 or 2 more challenging K9 related games to keep d proceedings lively eg. retrieving or catching balls/ frisbee, simple agility course, scenting or tracking items. Think dat Fastest Eating n Musical Chairs hv bn done to death. Master Hunt n Idol r quite interesting. Treasure Chest was too cumbersome.
4. Best 2 keep d entrance fees 2 a minimum. Annual increments will only keep participants n dogs away.

All in all a pretty good effort year on year. Keep up d tradition n great effort by d volunteers.

What is a Dogathon? Owner & dog walk together some specific distance or something? Plus lots of other dogs friends, foods & fun fun fun??? Never join this type of event before but it sounds like fun.

By the way anyone planning one of this Dogathon in JB. Seems like most events are only in the big KL or PJ town what about Johorean. Don't leave us out!!!

sorry for late reply. dogathon is an annual event held by vet students in upm. it's a charity event. the main event of course is the dog race. apart from that, we have different types of fun games according to the theme. this year our theme will be "kings and castle"
for sure it will be a grand one. if you are not interested in the race u can join other simple and fun games such as master hunt, fastest eating duo(which means owners and their dog will be eating :D ) and etcetera.
there is alot of booths for u to visit and spot for special offers.
or else u can also just come and have a look, who knows maybe you'll get the chance to meet other dog lovers just like u. the entrance is free. just come and join us and have fun!
