| I think the main reason why large animal rounds was created here was cos we have very little LA practice over at upm. but creating one for small animal would be great too:) can get exposed to the current situation outside. I'm all for it! :D |

Thanks for the suggestion S.A. Tan.
The idea is great but right now we still can't find a dedicated forum moderator (like Dr csh) to moderate the Student's Round (Small Animal). The person must also willingly to share his/her expertise with the students.
It isn't an easy task, it is a labour of love. Therefore we need a dedicated person to spend some time to "take care" of his/her SA forum.
As for the "IT skill", no problem, we will guide the forum moderator from A to Z on moderating the forum. It is easy, no programming or what-so-ever high-tech skill is needed to moderate a forum.
Since the discussion in the Student's Small Animal Round/Forum will be related to actual patient cases, types of drug and doses, sensitive information about the owners/pets, and very technical discussion; the forum will only accessible to the vet students.
If you know anyone is interested to educated or share his/her experience with the vet students in small animal medicine, please contact us at vet.com.my@gmail.com.
Regards,
Admin |

| Or maybe the students should be allowed to enter the vet rounds forum. |

i think i know your problem, and i know it is hard to find the right people to do the right thing. i've lots of people that have this kind of knowledge but i'm not sure they have time for such thing. in fact, the real world, they have their own destiny; their family , their bussiness and...........
but i'll try to find a Mr. right for this job!!! jia you!!!! |

I'm sorry to say, that is not the reason why I created the rounds. I created the rounds to help students go through the motions of handling cases and the thought process that goes through the mind of a clinician at every step. Perhaps I was just slow but I didn't develop clinical sense at all until probably sometime in my 4th year of vet school. I was heart broken when my dog of 13 years died when I was in my 3rd year and I didn't even have the first clue of how to work up the case. I've seen different vet education systems and I think exposure to clinical thinking early in the vet education gives student time to practice and gives students better idea of what knowledge is important to retain while going through classes. I run the forum because I want to contribute something back to the vet industry in Malaysia. I'm not really a great clinician but I think I still have something to offer.
The actual knowledge is really straight from the books or my personal experience and opinions but you should not concentrate on the facts. You should concentrate on the thought process. For the most part, I left out certain areas such as financial concerns, equipment limitations, etc. but that is really different from case to case. I believe critical clinical thinking trancends the division of small and large animal medicine.
If you want to discuss things like drug choices, perhaps granting access to the vet rounds is a better option. It is not a very active section right now anyway and perhaps students can boost the usage. Just my two cents. |

| Modereators need to be able to log in every single day and monitor the events of their portions. Not a easy job. Most vets are alredy swamped with their full time jobs. THe vet rounds have a handfull of postings since i joined in june...a dead zone if you will. |
