my rabbit has Malocclusion. causing a lump at the lower jaw, with pus.
2 months ago the vet already gave him an oral antibiotic (amoxicillin trihydrate/ clavulanate potassium)., he is still using this solution now.
i bought a wire clipper to trim his teeth. (from other resource i know that this method is not the right one, but this is what i learned from the vet)
The symtoms seems to become more serious. now he's saliva around his mouth and the fur around that area start to fall...

worry bout him, any suggestion and info about the problem and what the cost is like ?

hi there, are you sure your rabbit is on amoxicillin/clavulanate? rabbits are not supposed to receive that drug. perhaps your vet has his/her own opinion on this, i think its best u should consult him/her again on the use of penicillin class drugs on rabbits. Most probably he/her will have a valid reason in doing so.

yes, i copy the medication name from the bottle.
i am afraid of he (the vet) is not specialise in treating rabbit, and even do not have the proper equipment/medication for rabbit.

in your oppinion, what medication should be given for this kind od problem? I just want to know and find a proper vet for my rabbit by judging the perscription that given by the vet...

so sad, rabbit vet is hot easy to find... at least, for me is the case.

in my opinion, i am in no position to say what medication to give, as i not know and understand the extent of malocclusion. nevertheless, has your rabbit developed diarrhoea? i am sure there are many competent vets in penang that can aid you and your rabbit.

eats and drinks well, except having a lump, fur lost, and some saliva near the mouth.

the lump sounds suspicious, do have a vet to check out the lump! rabbits do have a tendency to develop lumps upon lumps. sometimes, these lumps are made thick and 'sandy'like pus. these pus are really hard to get rid of, and need to be put on long term antibiotics.

sometimes the root of the teeth could also be infected to which the removal of the offending teeth will solve the problem.
