Speaker: Chris R. Shepherd
TRAFFIC Southeast Asia
Mr Shepherd is the Senior Programme Officer at TRAFFIC Southeast Asia. He has been working on wildlife trade issues in the region for the last 15 years. His work with TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network, covers the 10 Southeast Asian countries. TRAFFIC's mission is to ensure the trade in wildlife is not a threat to the conservation of nature. Enforcement is the focus of Mr Shepherd's work. Among his responsibilities are, research on the legal and illegal wildlife trade in the region, provision of intelligence to the government for action and training of enforcement staff. This seminar will give an overview on the legislations related to wildlife, updates on wildlife pet trade, identification of protected species, and discussion on legal and welfare issues related to wildlife.
