|
|
You might wonder why some users have a "personal photo" under their user name. For example, see the profile of Dr. TanDY .
The graphical image of a user is also known as "avatar". It is a graphical personification of a user like those used in real-time Chat applications.
To add an avatar to your profile, follow these steps:
1. Go to your Profile by clicking on the Profile button (at the top bar).
2. Scroll down to the "Avatar control panel" and you should see a box named "Link to off-site Avatar:".
3. Ok now you need to put a link to the photo of your choice:
For example, say you like to put the SIRIM ISO photo as your avatar...
...and it happens that you find out this website has the photo that you need:
http://www.vet.upm.edu.my
then you point your mouse over the ISO SIRIM photo and right-click. Choose properties. You should see a URL for that SIRIM ISO photo. Copy that URL.
4. Paste that URL into the "Link to off-site Avatar:" box and click submit. You should now be able to see the SIRIM ISO photo in your profile.
5. That's all. Of course you can choose a better avatar than the SIRIM ISO photo!
Have fun!
(Note: Your avatar size should not be bigger than 130 x130 in pixels
You can also upload your avatar to imageshack first ( http://imageshack.us/ ) and then get the link to the image) |

| dsalish, from my understanding you have to link a picture from other site to be your avatar. I don't think you can upload your avatar from your hard disk though. Try linking a photo from other sites (like thumbnail version of you photo you upload to imageshack) |

well the profile portion of this forum has a space to upload an avatar from your own machine as one of the options. I also uploaded the image to Imageshack and then copied and pasted 4 of the available 6 addresses to upload my avatar but none work!
I tried all three in the thumbnail portion and tried one in the embedded portion of codes within Image shack. Please can you help..
Here are the codes according to imageshack:
Thumbnail Forums:
Thumbnail Sites:

Thumbnail direct:

| I actually entered the text string associated with each of those categories but the Vet Forum actually imbedded the image. |

yes finally figured it out. I took my picture into Adobe Illustrator, scaled it down 25% less than original size to create a thumbnail size and exported it to JPG format. then I uploaded it directly from my disk to the profile...without using external imageshack or equivalent...thanks
I think what was happening was my picture was too many pixels ...anyway thanks. |
