Bathing twice a week may be too much. Too often would cause the fur to be dry, because you are washing away its natural oils that makes it 'shine'. Anyway it has already been discussed here: http://www.vet.com.my/viewtopic.php?t=1057
Furthermore, what kind of shampoo do you use? Using human-grade shampoo is too strong. You should use a mild shampoo, like baby shampoo or shampoo specially made for dogs.

Skin problems have a variety of causes. Most often are those caused by infectious agents, that means parasites (like ticks or mites), fungal, or bacterial. Some skin problems are also caused by allergy or hormonal imbalance. If you find that more than 1 of them have the same problem, then more often than not, it is infectious. To find out exactly what, you have to bring it to the vet for further testing. To cure, you need to find out what is the cause first. There is no ONE treatment for ALL types of skin problem.

i currently using dog shampoo with conditioner...but my pup they like to dig hole, playing on the ground, if dont bath them, they will be very dirty..

vet already checked, she said is my pup skin prob is due to fungal..then she ask me try to use malaseb, triseb, sebazole or sulphur shampoo to control it..if unable to control by using shampoo, she will giv injection and medicine to dog..

That is good. I prefer to control it using shampoos or cream first before I proceed to giving it medicine and injections.

But you should also know that most skin problem will take a long time to heal. If you do not see any immediate results, do not be afraid. But do get the follow up consults from your vet to see if its improving or not.

Get it from your vet. Its hard to find, because it is prescription shampoo. By right, only people licenced to prescribe it can sell it to you. Do follow the recommended usage.

As for your dog getting dirty all the time, I still find that if you use shampoo to bathe them often, it just washes away their natural oils. Maybe you need to deter them from digging in dirt, or wipe them down with a damp cloth, or perhaps just rinse with water alone. Just some suggestion. If really dirty.. then, yes, bathe them with shampoor. :)

i bath my labrador puppy like 4 times a week. that should be enough due to her short fur. if long fur, i think you should bath more than 4 times a week. that's my opinion and maintain my puppy hygine and my family hygine too.

once a week should be a better bet.

im a professional living in bangsar; i moved here from pahang - my family is from there.

i live in a shoebox. when i go off to work, my puppy stays in my shoebox and likes to roll herself in her pee and poo and greet me with all of that when i come home from work. (okay, i adopted her from the spca - i dont want them to put her down so i took her even though i dont live in a house with a garden)

so, no choice - sometimes i bathe her everyday, sometimes every other (before she jumps onto my bed  - i use human shampoo and conditioner - tresemme. okay, am questioning the need for conditioning dog shampoos... arent they the same as human shampoo just 'packaged' for dogs. i know the medicated shampoos are different though...

Dog shampoos are meant to be much milder than human shampoos. That is why it is recommended that you use dog shampoos on them. If you really want to use a human grade shampoo, go for baby shampoos. Otherwise, your dog's fur might always seem dry and course (which, could also happen with daily baths). A shampoo with conditioner might be a good idea, especially for those who wants their dog to have nice smooth fur :)

okay, just to clarify things my puppy is a HER. i have another dog back in my parent's home (in Pahang) that is a HE and ive gotten sooo used to speaking about dogs in terms of he, so that's what i catch myself refering her as :) so, if i slip up again, just remember human error- it's a SHE, lol.

thank you for the clarification dr. nat. in that case, i shall go compare the prices of baby shampoo against doggie shampoo - baby shampoos nowadays are NOT CHEAP! phew, my tresemme is going really fast... it's been just one week the pups staying with me...

If I were you, I'd try to do something to stop HER (yeah, I screw it up all the time too) from rolling on poo and pee. Usually its something they grew out of once they get older. But sometimes, some dogs just like to roll around in water (no water, pee will do). Its a way to keep the body cool.
