Well, Pan's Labyrinth did win an Oscar. Infact, it won 3 Oscars.
1. Best achievement in art direction,
2. Best achievement in cinematography, and
3. Best achievement in make up

It was also nominated for:
1. Best achievement for music written for motion pictures, original score
2. Best foreign language film of the year
3. Best writing, original screenplay

if dr kwok is interested in extreme depictions of human emotions, perhaps you should watch 'a clockwork orange' a movie by stanley kubrick. pan labyrinth did not capture the vileness for me.

clockwork did it just perfect. but the movie is 18 and above (i am sure you fit the bill).

hey....no good movies this time round...
life is a bit boring...
anyway....WHO HAS WATCHED RATATOUILLE??????

Any food gourmet, like me, would love it!

I swear...Rats have never been so cute.....and to think i used to drown the rats that were caught at my house when i was younger! Will never do that again!

It was really a heartwarming tale...Some people may say typical Disney movie....but i'm a sucker for happy endings!

Give it up to PIXAR for making one of the best movies of the year!

(Actually quite sad that a animated feature has the honour of being one of the best movies of the year!)

Anyone for some Ratatouille?

I do believe that rats and mice got a lot harder to kill after steward little came along....if i remember correctly there were a lot of starving pet snakes after that movie.

heh heh...

but stewart little was a white mouse!
In ratatouille....these are reall mamak-stall, tepi-longkang looking rats!
Actually...i only liked Remy....his other family and friends still makes me geli!

Well..i guess the pet snakes will have to make do with other food after this movie too!

Hhhmmmm...Fate/stay night - read the synopsis and saw some of the artwork... not really my type...

I just finished a few anime series...

Samurai 7 is quite good.....short, sweet and simple...

Hellsing is also good...a bit draggy sometimes...and whiny...but very dark and thought provoking...really cool ending!!! Implies that Alucard (the main vampire) is ... find out for yourself!

Gun X sword is a quirky and interesting Mech anime.....some chapters are really funny and fight scenes are good...

The best part is...all these animes are complete! that means no need to wait for next episodes e.g like Naruto, D-Gray man and Bleach never ending stories!!!

Check them out if u hv time.....

Must watch movie!

I just watched "Lions for lambs" yesterday...

Political drama starring Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise and Robert Redford.....

Before i watched it, i thought.. "oh another American propaganda movie glorifying the American Ideals and the White Man's Burden!"

But minus the very American setting...i think it was a very thought-provoking and deep movie....

It doesn't glorify the Americans but at the same time, it asks the questions that the whole world wants to know...and the acting was very good....

No straight answers were given but it is up to you to make the conclusions....

One of the better movies this year.....

Hey there han, ghost, good to be back. Have not been to this page in ages, so many stuff to follow it took me a while to get back up to speed. Have been been bz lately and have just started the early stages of planning for my own practice.

Heh your boss have good taste ( i like saber too), i plan to get it in original jap format, the dubing in animax is not so good to say the least.

I did catch a bit of gun x sword, but it did not capture my attention so much. THe problem in animax is that they dub most of the anime. I dont undeerstand japanese but it seem to fit the general setting better the n english. Sorry ghost, if i watch a movie it wil not be for the "thought-provoking " factor. I have a overly simple mind and movies like that give me headache.

NOt been watching much movies lately, nothing seem to be catching my attention. The last movie i watch was transformers which i love.

congrats that you plan to have a practice of your own, and enjoy your free time while you can, coz after having your own practice, free time and holidays are far and few in between.

you are planning in KL, selangor area? we are planning to hire a junior vet but dont know if we can find any luck at it. what is the market rate for a fresh graduate in KL?

my boss and i are currently watching 'kishin taisen gigantic formula' which is not too bad, perhaps you guys want to have a go at it.
