|
|
Hi,
I would like to check regarding the qualification if I would like to further study as a vet... any possibilities to do that in Malaysia?
btw, I actually kind of 'old' already, and during SPM time I am not taking any bio... is that mean I have to retake the SPM (or whatever name that they call at the moment) before I apply?
Please advice... Thanks :D |

Briefly you need to have at least STPM before you can apply for a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) programme.
If you do not have STPM, a diploma might also be considered.
DVM is quite a tough programme. Some students dropped out in their second or third year of study. FYI, DVM is an intensive 5-year programme. |

when studying , the principles of vet course is the same like studying medicine. but when you come out and work in malaysia, you can see miles of difference.
it is true it is a difficult course, even tougher then medicine. But it is so much more fun then medicine.
check out www.vet.upm.edu.my for the qualifications you need and any more information |

Not just STPM is eligible, I took A-levels and got in! :D
If you're really interested, you can apply for a vet course in other countries. I believe biology is not a major requirement, but chemistry definitely is though. |

| PhD in pet bird diseases? Not many. In fact, quite rare. There are however many PhDs in poultry diseases from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM. Poultry diseases have been given emphasis because of economic importance. |

Yeah, I agree. So far I only know one person, my good friend Dr. Jalila...I consult her in every case of my bird, and I sometime provide my birds to her for case/classroom study or if her student want to take sample for thesis... :D |

| Dr Jalilla had experience, she has been to overseas just for avian medicine, something like residenship for quite a few years. She is really a bird person. and she is so friendly . she is my co-supervisor on my penguin project |
