hai..
thank you very much |

There are a few things you could do for the fur. Firstly, you must check to see if there's any disease affecting your cat that could cause it to have excessive shedding. If its not a medical problem, then you could do some of the following:
1. Provide good complete nutrition. Maybe even try some supplements.
2. Regular bath and brushing of the fur.
3. Regular cleaning of your house.
For pregnant women who keep cats at home, we have already discussed this here: http://www.vet.com.my/viewtopic.php?t=222
Basically, you just need to be aware of your hygiene. Get someone else to change the cat litter, always wash your hands especially before eating, etc. |

I have 4 DLH at home. Shedding has always been a huge problem for me. I try brushing them almost everyday and vacumning twice a week. But there are still fur all over the place.
Dr Nat, You mentioned supplements to make the fur healthier. Any specific supplements you could recommend? My cats are currently on the 'Missing Link' supplements. Its in powder form where I mixed in with their dinner everyday. |

| Most important of all is a good balanced nutrition. Adding supplements to that may help a bit, but not necessarily show drastic improvement. Supplements containing omega oils are good for the fur. So, look for that in your supplement. You could even look for that in some commercial cat foods. |

Yeah. The supplements I am giving them now is high in Omega-3 and Omega-5. I also feed them a mixture of RC Sensitive Skin and RC Kitten for breakfast (and leave some throughout the day) and Friskies or Whiskas can food for dinner.
No drastic changes yet. But hopefully the fur will grow stronger so that they willl shed less! |

I live in apartment too and i don't allow my cats out at all. Even if i stay in landed house i wouldn't let them out because risk of getting stolen, run over by car, bitten by dog, or they get dirty easily and i don't like the idea of them stepping on sofa if they have stepped in the drain!
I provide my cats with scratching post and lots of toys. I make sure to play with them daily so that they won't get bored.
As for the fur, shedding cannot be avoided even in short hair cats. I sweep the floor twice a day and only vacuum once a week. I also brush the cats twice a day. In the morning i only run through with a brush quickly and in evening a little more thorough brushing and this helps a lot.
Try giving your cats Brewers Yeast in tablets because this is supposed to control shedding.
Good luck. |

| Hi... Hanya nak berkongsi pengalaman. I rasalah, better U tukar makanan dia. Mungkin dia tak serasi dgn makanan yang U bagi. Sbb kucing I, I tukar dari Whiskas ke Friskies, kucing I punya bulu memang banyak tertanggal. Lepas tu I bagi dia IAM's, alhamdulillah semakin kurang gugur dan bulu dia kelihatan putih bersih walaupun tak dimandikan... He.. He... He... I tak ckp mana produk bagus, atau mana produk tak bagus, tapi I ckp keserasian kucing dgn makanan yg kita bagi tu penting. Ok.. |
