Docs, nak tanye a bit about FIP ni la. did a bit of reading about this. what i gathered is that ia xde cure right? also a lot of articles mentioned yg kekadang penyakit lain also tersalah diagnose as FIP as d symptoms are somewhat similar to other penyakit. how true is this ya?
also, if no cure is it possible to do something at all to mayb panjangkan umur d cat yg infected. i know that FIV with good penjagaan d cat can survive lama jugak. since FIP is a viral punye sickness (correct me if m wrong ye, lum habis khatam lagi :)) treatment with antibiotics, immune boosters will work x? |

Yes, FIP is so far considered incurable as there is no effective ways in getting rid of the virus or in sufficiently relief the suffering or in polonging the cat's life. Diagnosing FIP is also problematic as it is caused by coronavirus that has been modified themselves in causing the disease. And most test kits that claimed to diagnose the disease does not specifically detect the strains of coronavirus that cause FIP. Thus, diagnosis of FIP usually relies on a combination of a positive coronavirus test kit, clinical signs, blood tests, and other diagnostic workout. In most cases, when the cat is diagnosed with FIP, the cat is already showing "enough" clinical signs/suffering... Treatments, on the other hand, are mostly symptomatic. So, it's quite common for some vets to recommend euthanasia for FIP cats. I have experience with some FIP cases. I'm not saying all cases will be like same, but based on the outcome of all my FIP cases, I found that in all thses cases, although with necessary symptomatic treatment, all FIP cats failed to survive. Except for one case, where euthanasia had been performed. |
