Dear all experienced doctors,

Of course all are private clinic are trustable and expert.

q1:But is this " pusat haiwan" (goverment) trustable and expert? i mean are they really experienced and expert on dogs/ or any others pet?

q2:Should i let my dog have a regular checkup overthere? Because the nearest clinic to my house is this "pusat haiwan". I live in Kampung. So there wasnt any pet clinic available.

q3:what is the different between goverment service and private clinic? and their vaccine/medicine?

i'm confused and couldnt decide. pls help me!

All government vet clinics are supervised by a vet. However, due to shortages of vets, many of the ones attending to cases and doing the procedures are veterinary assistants. Wether they are really experienced in handling pets, I could not say. Perhaps you could determine that yourself by watching they way they handle your pets. Its easy for a pet lover to judge if a person handles a pet professionally or not.

Having a person to examine your pet once a while is better than nothing, right? If you are getting your pet treated, just make sure you know what they are giving and why it is given (and you should know that even for private vets too).

Vaccines and medicine are for animals. It depends what each clinic stocks. Government clinics are there to provide services for our rakyat. They have government subsidisation for the treatment charges, and is usually cheaper. Private vets on the other hand, need to earn a living through their clinic. (You might also view it another way, government officers are only there to do their jobs, since they don't earn from you. Private vets need to show you value for your money. Well, ok, these are just generalisation, and there can be exceptions.)

Very well said. I must add that Dr nat is not in private practice nor is she in the gov. So it is an unbiased advice.

well, if someone doesn't have enough money for privates, maybe can go to gov. like Dr Nat said, better have our pets get to be examine than none. if only I can persuade my parents to pay for the regular checkup before I can earn my own salary, *sigh...

Pusat Haiwan is indeed cheaper, but they not necessarily will check your dog's health thoroughly (depending on who's doing it). If you really want my advice, bring your dog to a private clinic if you can afford it.
