hi everyone, I'm Mark and I'm currently in DVM4. I stumbled upon this forum while checking out SPCA's website the other day. I must admit that I regret not knowing the existence of this forum earlier cos it's really beneficial!
neway, I just wanna ask opinions on places to go for practicals i.e. for small animal and large animal. Is it advisable to go overseas? If yes, any places which are highlye recommended? It would be great if a rough price could be quoted as well!
Thanks lots! |

| You could also work the other way around. Figure out your budget first, then work out where you can go. |

| If you have a chance to go oversea to do your practical go ahead. Ask your seniors (DVM 5) where and how they did their practicals. In my time I went to Thailand for large animal practicals (pig and ruminant) and Singapore for small animal. It was a great exprience! |

| Perhaps you can try the University of Cambridge, in the UK. I think they have the ct scan when i last visited them in 2004. They have stand alone vet complex (faculty) which is quite new. i do not know if it is just renovated or its a new complex, but it looks really new. smells new too. |

| Hi everyone, i'm Zhi Hui, Mark's classmate. Regarding this topic, i'd like to seek for some advice & opinions on doing small animal practical in UK: Is there any recommended universities & private clinics that i can go for? I must admit that this is the 1st time that i'll go oversea alone & knowing not much about the country...so please kindly help me, maybe sharing some experiences & give some comments about it, THANK YOU!! |

I urge you to consult your IVSA rep as im sure that they have all the contacts and list that is available to aid you in your seeing practice.
however, if you prefer to go at it yourself, perhaps the internet would be a good alternative for you to look for your practice of choice. (that was what i did). nevertheless, since you still an undergraduate, i would urge you to consider asking your other coursemates to see if theyare also thinking to see practice overseas. perhaps if you travel in a group of 3 or even 4 will make more economical sense (you can share cost).
when i was still in campus, my mates and i travel and did our practical in australia and upon arriving, we basically 'split up' and saw different practice in different parts of victoria. then after it all, we would sit together
and share experiences and even present what we saw in our clinical rounds. |

| Oh yeah IVSA is really cool. Try to get in touch with them and arrange your practical oversea. It will be a great experience. |

thailand is not bad. if $ is not a problem(besides, cheaper too compare to UK and et cetera) , thailand is a place to be consider.
